Thiruvananthapuram gets top ranks in ICSE, ISC exams
The ISC stream had 95 students; 69 got distinction; 26 students passed in first class.
Thiruvananthapuram: Schools in Thiruvananthapuram have quite a few rank holders including the ICSE state first rank, and the ISC third rank in the country.
Four of the top ICSE rank holders have studied in schools in the capital. Sameera S. Prakash who studied at St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, has bagged the ICSE first rank in the state scoring 98.2 per cent. Gouri Prasad of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kunnumpuram has bagged the ICSE second rank. Ashwin Arun of St Thomas Residential School and Rishikesh Panicker V. of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya has the third rank.
The state ISC second rank holder who is also the country’s third rank holder, Lekshmi S Sunil, studied at St Thomas Residential School. Many of the city schools have managed to get an all pass through remedial classes for poor students. At Loyola School, all 94 who appeared for the ICSE exam and all 46 in ISC stream got distinction. St Thomas Residential vice-principal Solly Varughese, speaking to DC, said that the 100% pass is a result of the hard work of teachers. Of 216 students who appeared for the ICSE exam, 105 got above 90 per cent and 203 got distinction, she said.
Christ Nagar Higher Secondary School offered special classes for its topper students, in addition to the remedial tuitions for the ones who scored less. Principal Father Kurien Chalangady said, “When we think that smarter students don’t need any extra care, they might not put in their best efforts. Every child should be cared for.” 142 students from the school appeared for ICSE exam and 134 got distinction. 63 out of 90 students who appeared for ISC examination got distinction. At Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, of 160 students in ICSE, 134 students got distinction; 26 students passed with first class.
The ISC stream had 95 students; 69 got distinction; 26 students passed in first class. At Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kunnumpuram, of 79 students in ICSE , 60 bagged distinction and 16, first class; in ISC, out of 50 students, 30 secured distinction and 18, first class. At Holy Angels ISC School, Nanthencode, 60 bagged distinction and 28 first class. Auxilium School, Kottayam: 13 distinctions and 10 first class in ISC stream; 47 distinctions and 13 first class in ICSE.
