\'PoJK institutions not recognised,\' says UGC, cautions students against admissions

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has cautioned students against taking admissions in educational institutions situated in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), asserting that institutes in the region are neither established nor recognised by the Government of India.
In a circular dated May 8th, UGC also asserted that the said territory is an integral part of India and is under illegal occupation of Pakistan.
Educational institutions, including universities, medical colleges, technical institutions and other educational institutions situated in PoJK are neither established by Government of India nor recognised by Statutory Authorities such as University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Medical Council of India (MCI), hence students must not take admission in these, the circular said.
"...Students are cautioned and advised against taking admission in any college/university/technical institution in any territory under illegal occupation of Pakistan including the so-called AJK and Gilgit Baltistan which are currently not recognised by India", reads the circular by UGC.
UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain has signed the circular.
