More discharges boost morale of medical staff in Kadapa

Better care and amenities resulting in higher recoveries, low mortality

Kadapa: True to the saying that every dark cloud has a silver lining, the number of people recovering from infections during the Corona second wave is increasing by the day, providing great relief to the doctors. New cases are rising and so are discharges. The measures taken by the authorities and doctors in Covid management are yielding good results. Good healing practices, caring and nutrition are getting patients out of the jaws of the deadly disease. Hundreds are being discharged every day in the district.

While 1,447 new cases were registered on Thursday, 1,130 recovered from the disease and were discharged from hospitals. On Friday, new positive cases touched 1,460 and 620 patients were discharged from the hospitals.

The medical and health department is making headway under the direction of District Collector Chevuru Harikiran. Even those without symptoms are being paid attention to see if they are corona is positive. A CT scan is being performed to determine if there is any serious illness. Also, ECG, oxygen and other infections are being closely monitored. Ventilators are also provided to the victims as needed. While protecting themselves from possible infections by wearing PPE kits and following other precautions, the medical personnel are taking good care of the infected, thus aiding their faster recovery.

The Covid second wave in the district started in March but intensified towards the end of April. However, mortality is low. According to officials, only one per cent of deaths were reported in March, April and May. As of Thursday, a cumulative total of 76,961 active cases were in the district and 68,285 people recovered from the disease and were discharged.

Dr Mundla Sureshwar Reddy, nodal officer, District Covid Hospital, Fatima Medical College, told Deccan Chronicle that by following the advice of doctors and taking their medication timely, one can overcome Corona completely. Those with mild symptoms can stay in home isolation and take medication. He called upon the public to be courageous while facing the infection. One should check blood oxygen levels periodically and visit doctors if they fall abnormally. He assured that good treatment was being provided at the Covid hospitals.
