Madras HC: File status report on death of student

According to petitioner, his son was studying third year mechanical engineering in Andal Azhagar Samy college.

Chennai: The Madras high court has directed the police to file a status report on the death of a third year engineering student on April 30 in Andal Azhagar Samy college in Kancheepuram district, founded by DMDK leader A.Vijayakant and managed by his brother-in-law L.K.Sudeesh.

Justice P.N.Prakash gave the directive and posted to July 12, further hearing of the petition filed by P.Seeralan, father of the deceased S. Sivasubramanian, which sought to transfer the investigation into the death of his son from Padalam police station to the CB-CID.

According to petitioner, his son was studying third year mechanical engineering in Andal Azhagar Samy college. On April 30, a student contacted him over phone and informed him that his son was admitted into a hospital. When he reached the hospital, he was informed that his son died.

The management of the college claimed that his son died due to electrocution. Therefore, he got suspicious over the death of his son. On enquiry, he came to know that L.K.Sudeesh, who was managing the affairs of the college called his son over phone and abused him for canvassing for PMK and threatened him with dire consequences On further enquiry, he came to know that the said the college authorities conspired with the said Sudeesh and assaulted his son and he suffered grievous injuries, which led to his death. From the beginning the Inspector of police, Paladam police station has not shown any interest in conducting the investigation.

Therefore, he sent several representations to various authorities. But there was no response. The accused persons were having muscle and money power, they may try to change the case of murder as an unnatural death. Hence, the investigation should be transferred to CB-CID, he added.
