Hyderabad: Work from home keeps techies dry
traffic police has issued instructions to citizens asking them not to venture out unless it is important upto 11 am.
Hyderabad: Techies working in IT corridor in Hyderabad are looking to use the "work from home" option on rainy days this season to avoid commuting on inundated roads and having to negotiate their way through congestions.
A few days ago, the city received nearly 9 cm of rain that submerged several roads. Traffic police issued instructions to citizens not to venture out unless it was important up to 11 am.
Techies faced the brunt of incessant rains last season when the road from Jubilee Hills to Madhapur was badly damaged resulting in traffic moving at snail's pace for few days.
According to Mr Kiran Chandra, a senior IT professional, travelling to IT corridor during rainy season was a big challenge these days with the Metro Rail work added to it. "Some of my colleagues take one-and-a-half to two hours daily to reach office. When it rains, it takes them four to five hours, especially those coming from slightly distant places. Exercising the work-from-home option is a lot better on such days," he said. Mr K. Manohar, who travels from the ECIL area to Madhapur every day, said "Rather than wasting time and energy on the road and reaching office late, it will be wise if companies use resources effectively to ensure productivity. IT firms should be willing to extend such a facility to their employees ."
