Telangana: Residents worry about emissions

The residents alleged that they were suffering from throat irritation, headaches, breathing difficulty and allergies due to the emissions.

Hyderabad: Residents of Nizampet, Bachupally, have complained about increase in factory emissions during the monsoon. They alleged that pharma companies in the vicinity were releasing large quantities of untreated emissions into the air when it rains.

Bachupally resident Rajshekhar S. said they had complained several times against the practice but there was little action. “When a hue and cry is raised, there is momentary relief after which the situation deteriorates,” he said.

The residents alleged that they were suffering from throat irritation, headaches, breathing difficulty and allergies due to the emissions.

The Pollution Control Board says that there will be a certain quantity of emissions and such odours are a natural outcome of residing in an industrial area. A PCB official said they would hold regular checks in the area and penalise those breaking the rules.
