Transco's non-profit' claim busted at hearing
Transco built two towers and laid the 220 KV Shankarapalli-Parigi line.
Hyderabad: Counsel for a farmer on Wednesday nailed the Transco’s claim that it was a non-profit organisation, at a hearing of the Electricity Regulato-ry Commission.
The ERC was hearing the case of Mr Allu Venkat Reddy, of Pedda Umantala in Ranga Reddy’s Pudur mandal, where Transco built two towers and laid the 220 KV Shankarapalli-Parigi line.
Mr P. Chengal Reddy, counsel for the farmer, said Transco “is a registered company and involved in constructing towers, transmission lines and collects wheeling charges for the same. Most of the power companies are profit making. They are governed by company law and they pay dividends to share holders. So they are not non-profit organisations and they are similar to any other company.” The ERC posted the case after eight days.
