Hyderabad: Online course on waste management

The focus is on creating awareness of what is solid waste.

Hyderabad: ‘Guddu’ and ‘Ramesh’ are set to teach residents how to handle dry and wet waste. The two characters are part of an online learning course on solid waste management, created as part of the Swachh Bharat initiative.

The course deals with solid waste and its impact, garbage disposal and initiatives undertaken to deal with solid waste. Guddu, a working professional, is seen throwing waste on the road and his friend Ramesh teaches him to handle waste. The course revolves around the discussion over high tea about the impact of the solid waste and its consequences.

The 20-minute course has been developed by Swift e-learning Services. Director Md Sayeed said, “The focus is on creating awareness of what is solid waste. At the end of the course it will talk about how the GHMC recycles waste.”

The story is shown from the point of disposal of waste to its recycling. Added to that, there will be an exercise which teaches users to use drag and drop to deal with wet and dry waste. Mr Sayeed said. “The government is provding each house with two baskets to segretate wet and dry waste. The user should be aware of how to segregate garbage.”
