Hyderabad: The state government has finalised the guidelines for local status and will issue it in a day or two. On the request of the state government, the Centre has issued gazette notification amending the Presidential Order on local status to those who are shifting from Telangana to AP.

This will apply from June 2, 2014 to June 2, 2017 and in this three year-period, those who shift from Telangana to AP will get local status in admission to educational institutions and also at employment.

According to the Centre’s gazette notification, the state government officials have prepared the guidelines and sent it to AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his approval.

In the guidelines, the officials have said that to get local status, the person should get nativity certificate from local MRO. But Chief Minister Naidu had said that to get nativity certificate employees or any other person have to go to the MRO office and this will consume time. Mr Naidu thought that instead of getting nativity certificate from the MRO it will be easier to seek self-declaration by the persons who want local status.

On the directions of the CM, the officials changed the guidelines. According to this there will be no need to go to the MRO office to get nativity certificate for local status.

Self-declaration is enough. If anyone gives false self- declaration, the government will view it seriously and take action. The officials have prepared various kinds of self-declaration performa.

Following approval by the Chief Secretary, the changed guidelines have been sent to the CM for his approval. After the CM’s clearance, the government will issue guidelines on implementation.
