Telangana IAS Officers seek police probe in TRS MLA case
They requested that the investigation be entrusted to a woman officer not below the rank of IG.
Hyderabad: The Telangana IAS Officers’ Association has complained to Chief Secretary S.P. Singh against two TRS MLAs — B. Shankar Naik of Mahbubabad and M. Yadagiri Reddy of Jangaon — for misbehaving and verbally abusing two collectors.
Association president and Special Chief Secretary B.P. Acharya, Mahabubabad Collector Preethi Meena and others met Mr Singh and submitted the association’s resolutions on the Mahbu-babad incident where the MLA touched Ms Meena and pulled her hand.
They requested that the investigation be entrusted to a woman officer not below the rank of IG.
Ms Meena briefed the Chief Secretary about Mr Naik’s misbehaviour while Mr Acharya spoke about the complaint made by Jangaon collector Devasena about how Mr Yadagiri Reddy had been verbally abusive several times.
The association has requested Mr Singh to put in place an institutional mechanism whereby such incidents are prevented, and grievances formally addressed. The association passed a resolution to provide all necessary support including legal assistance to Ms Meena as required.
Mr Singh has assured the association that the government will take action as per law in the Mahbubabad incident. He heard them out and thanked them for their their solidarity with Ms Meena. He said an institution would be set up to prevent such incidents in the future.
