Youth held for threat to blow Uttar Pradesh Assembly
The police are conducting further investigation to check whether Ahmad has any links with any terror groups.
Lucknow: The police in Deoria district have arrested a Muslim youth who threatened to blow up the Vidhan Sabha with bombs on Independence Day. The arrested student has been identified as Farhan Ahmad, a resident of Deoria district.
Farhan, a BA second year student, had called up Additional Director General (ADG) A.K. Prasad on July 6 and had threatened to blow up UP Vidhan Sabha building on August 15. Since then the police was on a look-out for the caller. They traced the call to a mobile shop in Deoria from where Farhan had bought the SIM card by giving fake identity and address proofs.
On the basis of the shopkeeper’s description of the buyer, the Deoria police arrested the accused. The arrested student has admitted to the police to making the threat call to the ADG. The police have also recovered from him the mobile phone that Ahmad had used to make the threatening call.
