Thiruvananthapuram: The city corporation health wing on Sunday sealed a restaurant in the state capital at Kowdiar after getting a complaint from a person who allegedly found a worm in the biryani delivered to him from a restaurant. The health squad immediately swung into action when they got the call at around 5.30 pm on Sunday from the complainant.

The worm was found in the biryani ordered via Uber Eats by the person. Nanthencode health inspector S.S. Minu who inspected the restaurant said that the hygiene standards were very poor. He said that cooked and uncooked meats were stored in the same freezer and cooking utensils were kept under the wash basin. “We had to seal the restaurant. None of the staffs had health cards. Also, the hotel staff failed to produce the bill of the chicken bought from the market,” said Mr Minu.

Health standing committee chairman K. Sreekumar said that strict action will be taken against eateries serving unhygienic and substandard food.
