KAKINADA: Roads and buildings minister Dadisetty Raja said the volunteer system introduced by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has become a role model for other states to follow.

Addressing a meeting of the zilla parishad here on Friday, he regretted that in AP, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is denigrating volunteers. The meeting was chaired by zilla parishad chairman V. Venugopala Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, BC welfare minister Ch. Srinivasa Venu Gopalakrishna said the volunteer system has filled the gap between government and people, as government schemes are directly going to the poor, eliminating mediators and corruption.

The meeting passed a resolution appreciating volunteers for the selfless service that they are rendering to people.

Kakinada MP Vanga Githa, government chief whip Chirla Jaggireddy, Kakinada Rural MLA Kannababu and Jaggampeta MLA Jyothula Chantibabu, who were present, supported the resolution.

On the occasion, the ministers and MLAs unveiled a special poster on Dengue Prevention Month to create awareness on dengue among people.
