Teacher dead, 4 students injured during I-Day preparations

Hyderabad: An upper primary school teacher died and four students suffered electric shock in Ranga Reddy district on Sunday. The teacher and the students were preparing for I-Day when the flagpole came in contact with an electric cable. The education department has ordered an inquiry.
The teacher, Kalva Prabhavathi, 40, a resident of Pudur, was the only secondary grade teacher at the school in Medikonda village with 16 students from Classes I to V. On I-Day eve she and Anganwadi worker Durgamma were making arrangements for a function on the campus.
“While trying out the flag hoisting she and the students lifted the pole up up. The pole touched cables, CI A. Upender said. Prabhavathi died on way to hospital. The students Madhumathi, Keerthana and Ganesh, from Class III, and Shivateja were injured.
