Karnataka: Suresh Prabhu to flag off suburban train on August 18
The service has been a long-pending demand of Whitefield residents, who wanted the service before the Metro work in the area started.
Bengaluru: South Western Railways has officially announced that the DEMU train service will be started between Byyappanahalli and Whitefield. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu will flag off the service through a video link on August 18, a press statement from the SWR read.
“It will leave Byyappanahalli at 8.25 am and will arrive at Whitefield at 8.50 am. In the return direction, the train will depart at 6.15 pm and arrive at 6.40 pm," stated the press release from SWR CPRO Vijaya.
En route, the train will stop at Krishnarajapuram and Hoodi. The train will have eight cars with a total capacity of 2,412 passengers (standing& sitting).
The service has been a long-pending demand of Whitefield residents, who wanted the service before the Metro work in the area started.
“On the whole, 14 trains run from Bengaluru to Bangarpet via Whitefield and on the return journey, 15 trains are available. This includes passenger, MEMU and DEMU services,” the press statement read.
