Tirupati set to host Independence Day celebrations
Long weekend, official vehicles leave city jam-packed.
Tirupati: Tirupati city has been witnessing heavy traffic, and frequent jams, since Sunday. Some markets and shopping areas are chock-a-block with vehicles. A good many of these vehicles belong to the state government, especially state protocol and other departments, for the official Independence Day celebrations. The trial runs of Chief Minister’s convoy and other vehicles created traffics jam in the city on Sunday and Monday.
The pilgrim rush, attributed to the long weekend, is also another reason for the heavy traffic. Officials believe that the situation may continue till Wednesday. Keeping the official Independence Day celebrations in view, the Tirupati urban police have opted for traffic diversions in the city. All roads leading to Tirupati are being managed by the police to ensure free flow of vehicles.
As per the traffic advisory, no vehicles will be allowed on Tuesday from SVU main entrance to Balaji Colony and Padmavati Degree and PG college, Tirupati railway gate to NCC office.
