Telugu Desam-Congress pact not ruled out
Confident Congress can come to power in TS, says Rahul.
Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi, while expressing confidence that the Congress would come back to power in Telangana state, said that the party would improve its position in AP also. In an interaction with the media on Tuesday, Mr Gandhi did not rule out an alliance with the Telugu Desam in Telangana and AP. He said that the Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs) would take a decision on alliance with like-minded parties in the state. He also said “The high command will take a decision after receiving the recommendations from the PCCs. The PCCs have been given a free hand on the alliance issue.”
He expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Telangana PCC. When asked about not including any Telugu leader in the reconstituted Congress Working Committee, the highest decision making body of the Congress, Mr Gandhi, hinting at changes, said, “It is not static, but dynamic.”
Meanwhile, before this Mr Gandhi held a meeting with senior Congress leaders. In the meeting, Rahul said that the Congress was in good position in Telangana, but if all Congress leaders fought unitedly setting aside their differences, the party position would improve further. In the beginning itself Mr Gandhi told the leaders not to complain about any leader but express their opinion on the party position and give suggestions to improve further. He asked the party leaders be ready to face the elections unitedly. Later in the afternoon, former Chief Ministers K. Rosaiah and N. Kiran Kumar Reddy also met Mr Gandhi.
