Guntur: A massive peace rally was taken out in Guntur city against the genocide of Rohingyas in Myanmar.

Muslim JAC Guntur, Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Jamiat-e-Ulama, Majlis-ul-Ulama and other Muslim organisations participated in the rally and later prayed for the lives of Rohingyas, Hindus, Kachins and Christians in Myanmar.

The protesters said that Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Noble Peace Prize for her fight against violence but was now failing to control violence in the country she ruled.

The protesters said that both Islam and Buddhism advocate peace, but the Buddhists in Myanmar have adopted the path of violence and were killing Rohingyas.

Jamiat-e-Ulama district president Moulana Habibullah, Majlis-ul-Ulama president Mufti Abdul Basith, Muslim JAC president Md Kaleem and other leaders said that apart from Rohingyas, native Christians, Hindus and Kachins were the victims of the violence in Myanmar.

They demanded intervention of international organisations to stop the genocide.
Guntur East MLA Md. Mustafa, TD leader Md. Jani and Md. Hidayath, Congress leader and former MLA Sk. Mastan Vali and Sk. Abdul Waheed and others appealed for peace in Myanmar.

Later, supplications were made for a stop to the violence and genocide and for normalcy and peace across the world. Later they submitted a memorandum to Guntur collector K. Sasidhar.
