Pratipatti Pulla Rao asks Kancha Ilaiah to remove anti-vysya lines
They demanded a ban on the book, and arrest of Prof Ilaiah.
Guntur: Civil supplies minister Pratipatti Pulla Rao on Thursday demanded removal of objectionable references against the Vysya community in the book by Kancha Ilaiah saying that targeting a particular community was against society, state and country.
Participating in the Intintiki Telugu Desam programme here, Mr Rao said that the leaders of Vysya community have taken the objectionable writings very seriously and demanded Prof Ilaiah remove the objectionable writings from the book immediately.
Elsewhere, members of the Arya Vysya community, led by Guntur urban Arya Vysya Youth Association took out a bike rally against the book Samajika Smugglerlu Komatollu and demanded the arrest of the author.
Association secretary G. Bhaskar Rao, leaders M. Gowrisankar, T.L.V. Anjaneyulu, S.V. Ramana and others said that Arya Vysya community has been doing business professionally from centuries and are not “social smugglers” as described by Prof Ilaiah.
They demanded a ban on the book, and arrest of Prof Ilaiah. They met Guntur East MLA Md. Mustafa and Guntur West MLA M Venugopala Reddy and submitted a memorandum of their demands.
