Warangal: Rise in fever cases despite measures
According to MGM superintendent Dr B. Srinivas, there has been a steady increase in the number of fever patients since the past one month.
Warangal: Despite efforts of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) to check mosquito breeding, there has been a significant increase in the number of patients getting admitted to the MGM Hospital with viral fevers.
Though the corporation has taken up anti-mosquito breeding measures to check fevers caused by mosquitoes, it has apparently not succeeded in its endeavour. According to MGM superintendent Dr B. Srinivas, there has been a steady increase in the number of fever patients since the past one month. The number of inpatients has ever since remained around 1,200, exceeding the hospital’s capacity. As a result, two patients are being allotted one bed, despite putting beds in specialty wards also into use.
The situation in Jangaon Government Hospital too remains the same.
The rush and shortage of amenities is causing inconvenience to both doctors and patients at this hospital. Currently, the 250-bedded hospital is seeing footfalls of 650 to 700 per day. Here too, patients, who have been admitted, are being forced to share their bed. The outpatient consultation, whose timings are from 9 am to 12 noon, is getting extended till 3 pm. With insufficient staff, doctors are complaining of being overburdened.
