EP Jayarajan resigns: VACB to probe into PSU postings in last five years
The petition was posted to Monday as the VACB legal officials sought more time to give their views.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has decided to probe all appointments in public sector undertakings during the last five years, even as the VACB informed the Vigilance special court here on Friday that a probe was already on into the alleged irregularities of nepotism committed by Mr E.P. Jayarajan while he was the Industry Minister.
A fresh private petition seeking a probe into all appointments during the last five years was also submitted before the inquiry commissioner and special judge court on Friday. The petition was posted to Monday as the VACB legal officials sought more time to give their views. The VACB had already decided to initiate a probe into the matter on the basis of a petition received by it. The probe is entrusted with the special investigation unit-II headed by SP K. Jayakumar, the same team probing the allegations against Mr Jayarajan.
The court reportedly witnessed dramatic scenes as the Vigilance additional director of prosecutions failed to produce any documents in support of his statement that the probe was on. Mr. Babu opposed the plea of the petitioner to register a case against Mr Jayarajan in this connection. Though the additional director of prosecutions maintained that there was no provision to register a case, he could not produce any documents to support his argument, said the petitioner.
