Telangana BJP makes its intent clear
Party works on strategy to spread wings.
Hyderabad: The TS BJP has stepped up its attacks on the TRS government as part of its long-term strategy to emerge as an alternative political force in the state by the 2019 general elections. With the TRS government completing its half of the five-year term on December 2, the BJP has chalked out several agitation programmes to highlight the failures of the ruling party. The BJP’s focus will be on TRS government's failure to utilise funds sanctioned by the NDA government for various welfare schemes effectively.
On Thursday, BJP leaders gave a glimpse of what’s to come by staging a flash protest in front of CM’s office block in the Secretariat. The party leaders, who had secured an appointment with Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to submit a representation on farmers' issues, sprang a surprise by staging a dharna in front of CMO after the meeting, which is a high-security zone. The protest is seen as an embarrassment for security personnel who evicted the protesters post-haste.
BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said, “This is only the beginning. We will take up more such programmes in the coming days to highlight the failures of the TRS government. Being a new state, we waited patiently for over two years with the hope that the government would deliver. But the situation is only worsening by the day, due to which people from all sections are suffering.”
BJP leaders are angry that the state government has not utilised the funds sanctioned by the Centre. “Over Rs 700 crore was sanctioned by the Centre to provide relief to farmers affected by drought last year. The government failed to pay the same to farmers even after a year,” said BJP TS chief K. Laxman.
