Development works delay irks KT Rama Rao

Mr Rama Rao proposed to hold an exclusive meeting regarding the SCM soon at Hyderabad.

Warangal: Municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday expressed his displeasure at the the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation and district administration for delaying development works even after funds were released. 

Reviewing the development works taken up in Warangal city on Saturday, Mr Rama Rao said that the state government has released Rs 300 crore as special development funds for last year and this year while administrative sanctions were given for works worth Rs 283 crore. However, only Rs 50 crore was utilised so far. 

He questioned why the rest of the works never took off. Unhappy with the response of collector Amrapali Kata and GWMC commissioner Sruthi Ojha, Mr Rama Rao asked them to make amends immediately. 

He questioned the public representatives present at the review meeting how they would face the exams (elections) and told them to start the development works immediately. 

The minister asked the officials to prepare details project reports for Smart City mission works and ensure they begin by March 2018. As much as '2,960 is pending with the district administration under this scheme. Mr Rama Rao proposed to hold an exclusive meeting regarding the SCM soon at Hyderabad.

The officials were asked to prepare plans that include all the development and welfare promises made by the Chief Minister. 

Mr Rama Rao also asked the public representatives to coordinate with the district administration and complete the works.
