Hyderabad man washed away in nala, second incident in 6 days
On September 25, a two-wheeler rider who was riding in the rain fell into an overflowing nala and was swept away.
Hyderabad: A man was washed away in the Madhusudhan Reddy Nagar nala at Dwarakanagar, Jeedimetla, even as locals tried desperately to rescue him using a rope. The body of the man, who is yet to be identified, has not been retrieved. This is the second incident in six days, and third in three weeks.
It is believed that the man sat on the nala’s retaining wall and slipped into the gushing waters. A witness said the man tried to cling to an elevated manhole cover, but the speed of the water pulled him away. “We threw ropes to save him but the water took him away,” he said.
Six days ago Wahed Khan, 60, an autorickshaw driver from Al Jubail Colony, had slipped into a nala and was washed away in the Old City. His body was retrieved by his relatives the next day.
