Pudukkottai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami asserted on Saturday that his government was making all efforts to control the dengue outbreak in the state.
Speaking at the former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran — popularly known as MGR- birth centenary celebrations here, he called upon the people to coordinate with the government's efforts to control the fever. He also urged NGOs’ and social welfare organisations to create awareness about dengue and help in containing the disease.
He took strong exception over the main opposition DMK leader M K Stalin's remarks that the State government had been reduced to a 'dengue government', adding he did not wish to reply in detail to such baseless allegations.
However, Mr. Palaniswami said Stalin's anti-AIADMK outbursts only showed they were born out of jealousy, and reminded that the opposition parties too had a duty to cooperate with the government in tackling major issues that affect the people like dengue outbreak. The people 'will put a full stop' to such baseless allegations, he added in MGR style.
Mr Palaniswami also announced several new schemes for the people of Pudukkottai district, including laying of a new road to the hill temple for Lord Muruga at Viralimalai.
CM also either launched or laid the foundation stone for various development schemes /projects with an outlay of over Rs 650 crore, besides distributing welfare assistance to the tune of Rs 190.19 crore to 32,066 beneficiaries in district.
Deputy Chief Minister, O. Pannerselvam, Health minister, C Vijayabaskar, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker, M Thambidurai, Assembly Speaker, P. Dhanapal, Pudukkottai collector S Ganesh and secretary of Tamil Development and Information R Venkatesan, were among those who participated in the impressive function. EOM.
