TNPCB issues guidelines for Deepavali

The public are instructed not to burst crackers between 10 pm and 6 am and buy the crackers with noise level less than 125 dB.

Chennai: Ahead of Deepavali, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) on Sunday issued instructions to the fire cracker manufacturers, retailers and general public on the rules that are to be adhered. “Manufacturers shall maintain the details of chemical content and noise level.

The sale of firecrackers generating noise level exceeding 125dB (A) or 145dB(C) at 4 meters distance from the point of bursting shall be prohibited and the number of crackers joined together should not exceed 5 log 10(N) dB,” the official press release said.

The  public are instructed not to burst crackers between 10 pm and 6 am and buy the crackers with noise level less than 125 dB.
