Hyderabad: Eateries get notice to compost garbage
Red notices, or final warning, would be served after November 15.
Hyderabad: The GHMC has decided to issue red notices and cancel the trade licences to eateries which produce more than 100 kg garbage on daily basis.
As per the solid waste management Rules, 2016 and protocol for star rating of garbage-free cities all bulk garbage generators in the commercial category including hotels, restaurants, function halls, I-T companies and other industries, food courts, malls, institutions etc,. producing an average of 100 kg of waste per day have to instal composting machines in their premises to process the wet waste.
Red notices, or final warning, would be served after November 15. If the establishments fail to comply, water connection would be stopped and fines be imposed. Licences of those failing to comply even after these measures would be cancelled.
Those following the rules would get a mark of appreciation a green trademark and be promoted on the GHMC website.
There are more than 250 bulk generators of garbage within GHMC limits.
