Demonetisation hits class-IV employees in Andhra Pradesh
Many unable to meet urgent expenses.
ADILABAD: Demonetisation has badly affected government employees, especially Class-IV employees, who are able to just get Rs 10,000 of their total salary this month and were not in a position to meet their monthly expenses and pay loan installments.
Elderly persons in their 50s undergoing medical treatments, too, have been badly hit by the demonetisation move. R. Posham, a government employee of Pittalwada in Adilabad town, said he got just Rs 10,000 out of total salary and he was not in a position to get his cataract operated, which costs over Rs 12,000.
He said even he had stopped paying half of the monthly installment he pays to a moneylender as loan repayment. Many elderly persons are facing the same problem and struggling to meet their monthly expenditure. They are forced to take provisions and essential commodities on debt.
They hoped the state government would pay full salary at least for next month, otherwise they will have to face more hardships in coming days. However, officer-grade employees are able to lead lives undisrupted as their dependence on monthly pay is far less intense.
