Hyderabad: Municipal offices won't use air-conditioner units

No officer or staff will operate air-conditioners till February, 2017, across GHMC head offices.

In an attempt to save on power costs, the GHMC commissioner has sent out verbal orders to all officials asking them to desist from using air-conditioners till February 2017.

Hyderabad: In an attempt to save on power costs, the GHMC commissioner has sent out verbal orders to all officials asking them to desist from using air-conditioners till February 2017.

“No officer or staff must operate air-conditioners till February, 2017, across GHMC head offices, including zonal and circle office. With this, the GHMC will be saving on electricity bill,” said the commissioner. This is part of the GHMC’s plans to cut down its maintenance cost in view of a meager increase under this head.

The civic body has approved  budget is  Rs 5,643 crore for financial year 2017-18.  Of this, Rs 3,026.73 crore has been earmarked under the capital expenditure and Rs 2,616.27 crore under the revenue expenditure.
