National energy conservation week celebrations in Waltair division and RINL
East Coast Railway's Waltair Division and RINL mark National Energy Conservation Day with awareness campaigns
Visakhapatnam: As part of the effort towards following sustainable practices, the Waltair division and the RINL celebrated National Energy Conservation Day on Thursday.
The East Coast Railway observed the week from Dec 8 to 14. Under the guidance of divisional railway manager Saurabh Prasad, a series of awareness campaigns unfolded across various railway stations and locations within the division.
Banners, posters, stickers and rallies as also energy-saving slogans helped spread the awareness.
The culmination of this observation was on Dec 14, National Energy Conservation Day. A comprehensive exhibition showcased diverse energy conservation techniques adopted in the division. Automation for lighting in offices, solar energy-based street lights, energy-efficient BLDC fans, remote sensing lighting systems, LED lights and inverter-type air conditioning systems hogged the spotlight.
A seminar on energy conservation was held at the DRM office. Saurabh Prasad addressed officials and called for innovative methods to tap into natural forms of energy. Stressing sustainability, he said the need was to move beyond mere solar panel installations. He suggested the use of LED lights equipped with timers for enhanced energy efficiency.
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) marked National Energy Conservation Day at the Visakhapatnam steel plant.
AK Bagchi, director of RINL, delivered an address, urging everyone to prioritize energy efficiency in their daily lives. Bagchi emphasized the critical role of each individual and their collective responsibility in ensuring a sustainable future through energy conservation. The event saw participation of 3500 persons.
