Pon Radhakrishnan apologises for BJP's inability to ensure Jallikattu

Chennai: Admitting defeat that his BJP government could not facilitate jallikattu this year too, Union Minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping, Pon Radhakrishnan apologised for his “inability” and said “defeat in resolving the issue positively inflicts pain to my heart.” He however assured that the Modi government is ever prepared to make jallikattu a reality in Tamil Nadu.

“With a heavy heart I bow my head as I have not been able to fulfil the promise I made to my Tamil people and that I have belied their hopes. And for this failing of mine, I submit my unconditional apologies to my dearest Tamil brethren,” he said. Pointing out that still he continued with his efforts to restore the rights of his “dearest Tamil brethren” as promised to them earlier, Mr. Radhakrishnan, said.

Ponnar to give month’s salary to farmers:

Mr. Pon Radhakrishnan pledged a month’s salary amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh for the welfare of the farmers affected by drought in the state. “I am not able to relish the happiness in my heart to the fullest extent due to prevailing drought conditions in many parts of Tamil Nadu and consequent sufferings to our people give untold pain to my heart,” he said.
