Thiruvananthapuram: Dhanya Sanal, 38, reached Agasthyakoodam peak on Tuesday becoming the first woman trekker to complete the trek after the ban.

Sanal who is spokesperson of defence ministry in Thiruvananthapuram told a news channel that the trek was extremely strenuous. “So steep at places that my knees were touching my chest. Incredible experience, not for faint hearted,” she said.

She started the trek to Agasthyakoodam which is the second highest peak of Kerala, on Monday morning. After night halt at Athirmala base camp, she began the trek along with other groups to the hill top on Tuesday morning. 

It may be noted that 4000 persons have registered online for the trek including 100 women for the 47 day season which began on Monday. 

It takes three days for people to complete the 23 km trek.
