Noble | Venture: Academy to give art training
It will train the aspirants in music, dance, Mappila art, drama and various other art forms.
Kozhikode: A Sargavedi Academy for training aspirants in various art forms was lau-nched at Kozhikode block panchayat on Tuesday.
The academy planned as part of diamond jubilee fellowship for aspiring artists is a project being implemented for encouraging young artists who already acquired the qualifications in their respective art disciplines.
The academy will promote art and culture among all people irrespective of one’s age or qualification. It will train the aspirants in music, dance, Mappila art, drama and various other art forms.
The sessions will be free and the state government will take care of the academy.
Experts will give the lead training to the participants. Two academies, one at Olavanna and the other Kadalundi, under the Kozhikode block panchayat will function in the coming days.
The academy was inaugurated by noted music director Kaithapram Damodharan Namboothiri. Kozhikode block panchayat president N. Manoj presided over the function.
A total of 10, 000 artists from across the state have been selected for providing diamond jubilee fellowships. The local self-government bodies, government and aided schools and cultural organisations will host the artists and provide infrastructure to train the students. The participants will also play a key role in the functioning of the art academy, said Mr Manoj.
