Hyderabad: Gang that looted transgender welfare society bank busted

The suspects were caught at Nanded after the police tracked their vehicles through CCTV cameras.

Hyderabad: The police has cracked the case of the robbery at the transgender welfare society bank at Chudi Bazaar within two days by busting a four-member gang, three from Rajasthan.

The police said the gang looted gold, silver and cash worth Rs 27 lakh. The suspects were caught at Nanded after the police tracked their vehicles through CCTV cameras.

Investigation officials said a person named Ramesh Sharma, a cook who lived in the building where the bank was located, chalked out the plan and took the help of three Rajasthani natives.

“Sharma and his friends, Sidaun Saansi, Ranveer Saasi and Rakesh Kumar Meena, broke open the front door and entered the bank. They took 10 kg silver, 630 gram gold, and Rs 7 lakh in cash from the almirahs,” said Mr A. Venkateshwar Rao, DCP West Zone. They escaped in an autorickshaw.

The police tracked the accused through CCTV footage collected from Chudi Bazaar, MJ Bridge crossroads, Begum Bazaar Chatri, Alfa Hotel, Asian Tours and Travels and HP Petrol Pump at Secunderabad.

“A team of cops went to Nanded and arrested them,” the DCP said. The informal bank serves over 1,000 members of the community in Telangana state, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It has been functioning from the same place for 400 years.

6 from Nayeem gang arrested under PD Act
Suryapet police detained six persons belonging to Nayeem’s gang under PD Act on Wednesday. Police said that Mohammad Tabarez, G. Srinivas alias Tomato Srinu, SK. Jahangeer, SK. Jani Pasha, SK. Chandh and Mohammad Mubeen alias Kaala Mubin were detained as there were chances of influencing witness by the group. Earlier, police detained five persons belonging to Nayeem’s gang.
