Driver dozes off at wheel, APSRTC bus overturns
The bus was heading towards Hyderabad with 37 passengers and two drivers.
Hyderabad: An APSRTC bus overturned and 24 passengers sustained injuries in Nalgonda district on Friday morning. Three passengers were in a critical condition.
According to the police, the APSRTC super luxury bus bearing registration number AP 27 Z 0273 overturned.
The bus was heading towards Hyderabad with 37 passengers and two drivers.
R. Ramesh Babu, Vemulapally inspector of police, said, “When the bus reached Buggabai Gudam village at about 3 am, the driver fell asleep and lost control of the bus. This led to the bus veering off the road and entering an agricultural field near Buggabai Gudam village.”
On receiving information, the Vemulapally police reached the spot and rushed the victims who sustained injuries to Miryalaguda government hospital.
The conditions of Krupakar Rao, Kutumbarao and Lalitha Devi are serious and were shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment.
