The government had also assured the KMPGA representatives that immediate steps would be taken to fill up the exiting vacancies in the medial education sector besides taking stern action against doctors who are on unauthorised leave.

Meanwhile, the KMPGA has not taken any decision on continuing the strike in medical colleges. A series of discussions were taking place to finalise the futhre course of action.

Doctors alleged that despite facing extreme shortage of hands in government medical college in the state, the directorate of medical education was yet to prepare the list of doctors who were on unauthorised absence from service. No action had been taken against such doctors yet.

Sources said the directorate was yet to prepare the list of unauthorised absentees. According to rough estimates the number of doctors who were on unauthorised leave could be about 100.
