Hyderabad High Court to hear plea of expelled MLAs today

The Congress MLAs had moved the HC contending that the Speaker had no power to disqualify them.

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad High Court on Thursday said that it will hear the petitions of Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar, seeking action against the Telangana Assembly Speaker for expelling them from the House, and regarding notifying the vacancies of Nalgonda and Alampur Assembly segments as illegal and unconstitutional, on Friday.

The Congress MLAs had moved the HC contending that the Speaker had no power to disqualify them and said the action was in violation of principles of justice and derogating Rule 17 of the Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Telangana Legislative Assembly and ultra vires the Constitutional Provisions in Article 175 and 176 of the Constitution.
