VK Sasikala's kin dies outside temple in Thiruvidaimaruthur

He died of cardiac arrest near a temple in Thiruvidaimaruthur near Kumbakonam on Saturday.

THANJAVUR: T. V. Mahadevan, (47) son of late Dr Vinothagan, brother of Ms. V. K. Sasikala, interim general secretary of the AIADMK, died of cardiac arrest near a temple in Thiruvidaimaruthur near Kumbakonam on Saturday. Mahadevan, who went to Mahalingaswamy temple at Thiruvidaimaruthur offered worship in the temple. As he was coming out of the temple, he developed chest pain and swooned. His driver and his guards took him to a private hospital at Kumbakonam, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Mahadevan’s body was then rushed to another private hospital at Thanjavur. Doctors confirmed his death. Later his body was taken to his residence at Arulananda Nagar here and kept for friends, relatives and party-men to pay homage. He was the Managing Director of ‘Vinothagan Memorial hospital’ established by his father as a partnership health institution with other doctors. He was the state secretary of ‘Amma (Jayalalithaa) Peravai’. Appointed in 2006, he held the post for eight months.

Former Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa expelled him from the AIADMK in 2011. He was seen standing near the body of Jayalalithaa kept at Rajaji hall after her demise in December 2016. Mahadevan is survived by his wife-Chitradevi and two daughters-Krithika and Surathina, who is studying ninth standard. On receiving information, Sri V.K.Divakaran, younger brother of Ms. Sasikala, rushed to Thanjavur from Mannargudi. His other relatives also came to the residence.

In the evening, T.T.V.Dinakaran, deputy general secretary of AIADMK, paid homage. Earlier, ministers R.Duraikannu, Rajendra Balaji, M.R.Vijayabhaskar, Thangamani, Saroja, former minister Nainar Nagendran, M.Rangasamy, Thanjavur MLA, S.S.Palani Manickam, former MP and union minister (DMK), A.Annadurai, Thanjavur district collector, J.Mahesh, SP of police Thanjavur, were among those who paid homage. Mahadevan has a brother Thangamani and a sister Subhashini. Cremation will take place on Sunday morning according to family sources.
