Hyderabad: The Lake Police rescued five persons who intended to commit suicide by jumping into Hussainsagar Lake on Sunday.

The first incident occurred at around 8 am, when a 33-year-old woman and her three children aged 14, 12, and seven attempted to jump into the water. They were stopped by a patrolling team.

“They were brought to the Police Station and upon enquiry, we came to know the woman had been facing some problems with her family due to a property dispute, because of which she had become depressed. She came to tank bund along with her three children with the intention of committing suicide. I counselled her and handed her over to her family,” said Dhana Laxmi, the Inspector of Lake Police.

Later that same day, a 19-year-old Intermediate student from Domalguda tried to jump into the lake near Lepakshi.  “She failed her exams and so she wanted to end her life. We counselled her and handed her over to her parents. We also suggested that she should return the next day for further counselling,” said the Inspector.
