Hyderabad: Lakshmi Parvati files complaint against defamation bid
The DGP instructed Hyderabad city police commissioner Anjani Kumar to ensure the registration of a case.
Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao’s wife, Lakshmi Parvathi lodged a complaint with Hyderabad city cyber crime police against a person who is spreading rumours about her on social media, defaming her character.
Condemning the allegations made against her, Ms Parvathi said that she would stand by women who face character assassination and will fight on behalf of everyone to prevent such harassment of women.
On Monday morning, the YSRC party leader met Telangana state Director General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy and gave a representation, seeking justice as false information was being spread about her on social media and in some regional television channels to defame her.
The DGP instructed Hyderabad city police commissioner Anjani Kumar to ensure the registration of a case. Ms Parvathi was later directed to the cyber crime police station, where a case has been registered by police.
Speaking to the media, she said, “Nothing of this sort has ever happened to me before. My character is being assassinated by a person identified as Koti who was like a family member. He posted defaming content about me on social media on April 4. Some regional television channels are deliberately trying to defame me. I complained to the DGP and Hyderabad Commissioner and they ensured registering a case and necessary action. I am aged over 60 years. People are not even sparing the wife of a former chief minister of AP. What then could be the situation of other women? I will now stand by all those who face character assassination and fight on their behalf,” she said.
