YSRC objects to sparing Kodela for code violation
In the memorandum Mr Reddy also said police were yet to arrest the TD leaders who had attacked YSRC leaders on polling day.
Vijayawada: YSRC objected for not registering a case against Speaker of the AP Assembly Kodela Sivaparasad Rao who had barged into a polling booth. The YSRC delegation led by its general secretary V. Vijaya Sai Reddy met the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora and submitted a memorandum to him on Monday.
In the memorandum Mr Reddy also said police were yet to arrest the TD leaders who had attacked YSRC leaders on polling day in Guntur and Chittoor districts.
YSRC also said that TD supremo and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been misusing teleconference to talk to party workers.
“Wherever EC didn’t appreciate our viewpoint as in the case of Guntur rural and Chittoor district, violent incidents involving TD leaders took place. In Putalapattu constituency of Chittoor district, our party candidate was brutally manhandled by the TD goons. In Vemuru constituency of Guntur district, our party candidate was brutally manhandled and his vehicle was completely damaged. So far the culprits were not arrested in either of the cases. The Speaker of the present Assembly who happens to be the TD Sattenapalli candidate barged into in one of the polling booths disrupting voting for an hour in Inimetla village. Villagers tolerated his presence for a while but later revolted by driving him away. To our shock no case was booked against the Speaker who violated the election law.
Instead cases were booked against our party candidate who was not present in the village as well as some other local leaders,” said Mr Reddy.
He also urged the EC to direct the chief secretary to ensure that the government doesn’t violate the model code of conduct and confine itself to essential expenditures like salaries, pensions and other day to day essentials so as to avoid complications for the incoming government.
