Kakinada: “India is an ancient civilisation, but it would  emerge as the youngest country in the world by having majority of the youth with an age of 26 years,” said Maharashtra Governor Chennamaneni Vidya Sagara Rao.

After unveiling the statue of the great academician late Dr.P.V. Raju at Ideal College of Arts and Science here on Sunday, Vidya Sagara Rao said that India had great knowledge in all levels including skill development and it stood as ideal for others.

“Skill development is most important to reap the full benefit of demographic divide; the Central Government is also focusing on development of skills. Though once upon a time, India was a knowledge- rich country, now it lost its glory as none of the universities in the country secured ranks in several surveys by different agencies.”

“A Chinese ambassador in America wrote in his book in India that India did not use any soldiers in China borders for centuries together... Our carpenters have been emerged as great architects in other countries.  Educational institutions should also strive hard for giving good skills to the students by providing quality education,” said Vidya Sagara Rao.

He said that all the universities should introduce choice based credit system in their educational institutions to provide more points based on their skills to the students and it will help for all round development of the students.

He spoke on the necessity of teaching in their mother tongue (Telugu) and stressed the importance of Telugu language. Though the state has been divided in to AP and Telangana, the people are united by language and its culture.

Therefore at all levels Telugu language should be given importance, he said. He recollected the services of P.V.N. Raju and paid rich tributes to him. He said that P.V.N. Raju was great human being and also great academician and his selfless services will be remembered forever.

Endowments minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao compared P.V.N. Raju  to Sir Arthur Cotton as owing to him, the people of Godavari districts are enjoying education and also employment opportunities and good living conditions.

BJP senior leader PV Chalapathi Rao, Visakhapatnam MP K. Haribabu, former Union ministers M.M. Pallam Raju and U.V.  Krishnam Raju were present.
