Kerala: Girls outshine boys in Plus II exam
A total of 10,829 students have secured A-plus in all subjects, including 153 students who got 1,200/1,200 marks.
Thiruvananthapuram: Girls have outshone boys in the higher secondary examinations, the results of which were announced on Monday. Of the 1,95,681 girls who wrote the examinations, 1,75,920 (89.90 per cent) became eligible for higher studies. From among the 1,70,458 boys, 1,29,342 (75.87 per cent) qualified.
The statistics for the various streams show that in the science stream, 1, 57,218 students (86.25 per cent) qualified for higher studies from the 1,82,285 who took the examinations.
In 2016, of the 1,90,536 girls who wrote the examinations, 1,67,167 (87.74 percent) had become eligible, while out of 1,71,147 boys, 1,25,586 (73.38 per cent) qualified. As many as 83 schools have attained 100 percent, in which there are eight government schools, 21 aided schools and seven special schools.

In the commerce stream, 93,420 (83.96 percent) qualified for higher studies among the 1, 11,268 who appeared for the examinations.
In the sector-wise results, the aided sector tops with 87.06 percent. Out of 1,76,392 candidates who wrote the higher secondary examinations from the aided sector, 1,53,560 qualified. In the government sector, 80.69 percent of the students qualified.
As many as 1, 26,341 candidates out of 1, 56,574 from the government sector became eligible for higher studies.
In the unaided sector, the pass percentage is 76.33. As many as 25,174 candidates qualified for higher studies out of 32,981 who appeared.
In the special school sector, the pass percentage is 97.40. As many as 187 of the 192 candidates qualified for higher studies.
