Hyderabad: Soldier accuses govt of ‘stealing his land’
Questions revenue officers for ‘no action’ against grabbers.
Hyderabad: A soldier has accused the Telangana state government’s agencies of not initiating action against a land grabber who has allegedly encroached on his ancestral land.
“I’m at the border protecting my country and the land sharks in Kamareddy district are grabbing my land behind my back,” S. Swamy, the soldier said in a video.
He named the land grabber and departments involved in “stealing” his land. “I am S. Swamy. I hail from Kamareddy district. Our six acres of land was grabbed by one P. Anajanulu without our knowledge. The land belongs to my family for generations. A few years ago, P. Anajanulu visited our village, entered our property, and destroyed our farm while my family was at home. After hearing about it, my family rushed to the spot and questioned his activities. In response, he said that the land belonged to him,” Swamy said in the video.
“Following his act, we filed a complaint against Anajanulu at the Telangana state revenue department and other government offices. They sent us from pillar to post but no action was taken. I was very preoccupied with this issue, so I could barely perform my duties at the border. I approached the revenue department officials but got no help. To add to our woes, Anajanulu threatened to kill my parents if they cultivated on the land. he filed a complaint against us — the very owners of the land,” he said .
Swamy said that every time they attempted to approach the revenue department officers seeking clarification on how the land-grabber had managed to forge documents and procure a patta book for the land, the officers, instead of addressing the matter, asked him to approach the court.
Asked about the charges the soldier made in the video, a senior officer from the regional revenue department confirmed that there was a case. The matter lies with the court and he count not comment on it, the official said.
