NSS says poll result shows ire of faithful
The editorial says that the faithful, irrespective of cast and religion or minority and majority, responded when Lord Ayyappa was dishonored.
Kottayam: The Nair Service Society (NSS) maintained that the election results reflected the protests of the faithful across the State.
In an editorial published in the latest edition of the NSS mouthpiece Service, the organisation said the outcome of the elections in the state showed a setback to those who played with faith of the people.
Rejecting all the claims like minority consolidation and distancing of majority communities from the Left camp or the effect of both the factors as the reasons for the UDF’s thumping victory, NSS stated that the Sabarimala issue played a major role in the outcome of the election.
“In fact, it can be seen that the protest of the devotees against the stand taken by the LDF in protecting the faith, and the lapses made by the Centre in resolving the issue reflected in the Parliament elections in the state. An exception in one seat was the result of some localised opinion and differences in the front,” it said.
The editorial says that the faithful, irrespective of cast and religion or minority and majority, responded when Lord Ayyappa was dishonored.
“Indian Constitution ensures the freedom to follow religious faiths and activities on the basis of it to all sections of the people. When a move arises against this from any side, governments are bound to protect it. The state and Centre should understand that there no relevance for a political stance in this matter,” it said, adding UDF’s stunning performance has shocked NDA at Centre.
The editorial also said that the Congress and others failed in countering the election strategies of the NDA in the national scenario. The pros and cons of the administration and the issues being faced by the people never came up for discussion , it said.
