AP sees steady rise in corona cases

Among the new cases, nine are foreign returnees, one is from Chennai, three from Kadapa, and one each from Sirigepalli and Khajipeta

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has continued witnessing a steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, with as many as 246 new cases having been registered, taking the tally to 5,087 on Monday.

State health department reported that of the 15,173 samples tested for Covid-19 during last 24 hours, 246 have tested positive with coronavirus. Two patients, one each from Kurnool and Anantapur districts, succumbed to the disease taking the death toll to 86. Of the total number of cases, 2,231 patients are continuing to remain in hospital while 2,770 have been discharged.

The total number of positive cases from foreign returnees is 187 and from other states is 1,159.

In Nellore district, 16 new coronavirus cases have been reported, taking the overall tally to 457. Prakasam district reported 19 new confirmed infections, with the total going up to 189. Health authorities said most of the new cases are those of returnees from Chennai and Hyderabad.
Kadapa district has reported 15 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 373.

Among the new cases, nine are foreign returnees, one is from Chennai, three from Kadapa, and one each from Sirigepalli and Khajipeta. District collector Chevuru Harikiran said post recovery, five persons have been discharged from state Covid-19 hospital at Tirupati.

In Guntur district, 21 new confirmed infections have been reported. Of them, four are from Vijayawada and Kadapa in quarantine, and one each from Peda Kakani, Ponnur, Vatticherukuru, Anantavaram, Gundimeda, Mangalagiri APSP Batallion, Inner Ring Road, Mohiddinpalem, Lakshmipuram, Kakumanuvarithota, Mallikharjunapeta, Vikas Nagar, Brindavan Gardens, and Yetukiru Road, and two are from A.T. Agraharam within Guntur city limits.

East Godavari district reported 16 new coronavirus cases. Of them, six are from Kakinada rural mandal, five from Nedunuru Peddapalem of Ainavilli mandal, three from Rajahmundry urban mandal and one each from Muramanda of Kadiam mandal and Kakinada urban mandal.
