Anantapur to host 3rd Independence-Day fete
Officials asked to prepare detailed estimates for all works.
Anantapur: The third Independence Day celebrations, after the state division, will be celebrated in Anantapur. Police Training College grounds, (temporary AP Police Academy) will be hosting the Independence Day celebrations as part of tradition by the state government to celebrate the fete each district every year.
First celebrations of I-Day was organised at Kurnool and Vijayawada hosted last year celebrations. The Chief Minister opted Anantapur this time, collector Kona Sasidhar said. The collector accompanied by joint collector B. Lakshmi Kantham, OSD Malyadri Police Training College Principal Venkatrami Reddy and other department officials inspected the PTC grounds to check out feasibility to host the state-level celebrations.
The district officials visited the ground and also surrounding parts for galleries, space for parade and vehicle parking for VIPs and other public. “We got opportunity to celebrate the state-level fete at Anantapur and complete all necessary arrangements on warfoot basis,” Mr Kona Sasidhar said. He directed the R&B superintendent engineer K. Madhavi to prepare detailed estimates for all works including renovation of galleries to accommodate VIPs, officials, students and other public.
Presently, the existing ground needs to be leveled for the grand occasion. Lodges and guest houses from surrounding parts of Anantapur were also asked to keep ready to accommodate the guests during I-Day celebrations. The collector directed all the departments to submit detailed proposals towards necessary arrangements in and surrounding Anantapur as early as possible.
