Coimbatore: Boy dies after taking Sainik school breakfast

Coimbatore: The famous Sainik Army school at Amaravathy near Udumalpet in Tirupur district plunged into a crisis on Friday as a 11-year-old student died of mysterious fever after taking breakfast at the hostel and 23 other students have been hospitalised for nausea and fever.

Angry parents staged a protest on the Udumalpet- Palani road, bringing traffic to a halt on the busy highways. Amid protests from parents, the Sainik military school declared holiday for a week till July 24.

The boy, V.Sidharth, son of a farmer, Vijayaragavan of Palani in Dindigul district, was studying 6th standard in the Sainik school. According to the boy’s uncle. Anbazhagan, Siddarth had developed fever on Thursday afternoon but was not given any treatment.
