Venkaiah Naidu pitches for Digital AP by 2017, says minister

The state government has received award for effective promotion and implementation of Digital India.

Anantapur: The state government has received award for effective promotion and implementation of Digital India. IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy has received the award from Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu during a programme in New Delhi on Friday. The CNBC-TV 18 Cisco Digitalising India Awards were given away during the programme.

AP was chosen for successful utilisation of digitalisation and selected for the prestigious award. Speaking on the occasion, the IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said the AP was digitalising all services in various departments under the headship of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who made significant progress during last two years through proper utilisation of IT and emerging technologies in transforming governance. “Our Chief Minister’s vision is to establish Digital AP by 2017. We have been using biometric features of Aadhaar in the prorammes like public distribution system, social security pensions, scholarships, MNREGA and all welfare progrmmes in the state”, Mr Raghunath Reddy said .

He stated that AP Fibre Net has been designed and implemented in a record time of 10 months to establish fibre optic infrastructure spanning over 22,000 kms. The system would provide triple play services in 9,000 gram panchayats, he briefed.
