Telangana government to move High Court against Mohd Pahelwan
The government directed Mr Pratap Reddy to file the appeals after seeking legal opinion.
Hyderabad: The state government has directed public prosecutor C. Pratap Reddy to file appeals in the High Court against the acquittal of the prime accused and reduced sentences to the other accused in the MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi case.
Two government orders — GOs 440 and 441 — have been issued for the purpose. The government directed Mr Pratap Reddy to file the appeals after seeking legal opinion. The public prosecutor in his opinion to the government stated that Mr Owaisi, who was grievously injured in the attack, would have died if he had not been taken to the hospital in time. This would amount to an attack on his life; instead of the 10-year rigorous punishment awarded to the four convicts, they should have been awarded the life sentence, he said.
